Ohio’s Community Mercy Hospice Celebrates Volunteers at Annual Recognition Banquet

Ohio’s Community Mercy Hospice recently honored its volunteers at its annual Volunteer Recognition Banquet at the Courtyard by Marriott in Springfield as part of National Volunteer Month.

“Volunteers are essential to our mission to celebrate the lives of those we have the privilege of serving by providing superior care and services to each patient and family,” said Tami Clark, volunteer coordinator at Ohio’s Community Mercy Hospice. “We’re grateful for every one of our volunteers and the commitment they have for making a difference in the lives of our patients, families and staff each and every day. This event was a small way to show our appreciation for all our volunteers do for us.”

Ohio’s Community Mercy Hospice volunteer Emma Teeter, a Wittenberg University music student, and Molly Moran, Emma’s roommate, performed Irish and luau music at the event with Emma singing and playing ukulele and Molly singing and playing the guitar. At the end of their session, Molly dedicated a poem and song to Veterans.

“Individually and as a group, volunteers are making such an impact serving our patients and their families,” said Maureen Swarts, volunteer manager. “Whether they serve in a face-to-face role or office role, every volunteer is supporting our mission. We thank them and celebrate them.”

At the banquet, certificates and years of service pins were handed out to volunteers to recognize their commitment, dedication and time given to Ohio’s Community Mercy Hospice.
